Sunday 30 January - Week 1, Day 1 Ahimsa "Nonviolence is an active force of the highest order. It is soul force or the power of Godhead within us. Imperfect man cannot grasp the whole of that Essence - he would not be able to bear its full blaze, but even an infinitesimal fraction of it, when it becomes active within us, can work wonders." M.K. Ahimsa - do no harm - was at the heart of Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy and practice. Ahimsa is rooted in an unconditional love, respect and appreciation for all sentient beings. I will seek to appreciate the essence of ahimsa and to incorporate that essence in my daily encounters with my self, other people, the worlds I live in. Im my prayers, meditations and actions, I will express appreciation of the magnificent blessings that flow from the source of all life - Allah, God, Yahweh, Great Spirit, the Light, the Tao, the Goddess, the Nameless - and seek to make a home for ahimsa in my heart. |
